2008 Helen Gibb Autumn Ribbon Retreat

Registration Form

When:
October 3rd and 4th, 2008.
The retreat begins 9am on Friday, and closes at 5pm on Saturday.

This is at Helen's home, and less than one mile from the hotels recommended below.

Lodging:
We recommend the Marriott Courtyard, Louisville (303-604-0007), or the Hampton Inn, Louisville, (303-666-7700) Please call them directly to make your reservation. Both offer comfy rooms, and breakfast in the morning. Area attractions near Louisville include the Boulder Pearl Street Mall, Butterfly Pavilion, Flatiron Crossing Mall, and University of Colorado-Boulder. The hotels are also close to many popular Denver attractions, and less than an hour from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Ribbonwork Experience Level:
The retreat is suitable for all skill levels and you will sew at you own pace—no pressure! Don't be nervous about coming to the retreat—it's a golden opportunity to learn some new techniques, to get some personal teaching time from Helen, and to go home with a beautiful project.

The 2008 Autumn Retreat Project:
You'll receive a kit, which is included in the price of your registration. There may be some optional trims that won't be in the kit but you can purchase them at the retreat and use as desired. More information to come.

You will need to bring basic sewing supplies—ruler or tape measure, scissors, thimble, needle threader, etc. A ribbonwork notions sewing kit (contains all the pins, needles, special thread etc that Helen recommends) is available for $10 so let us know if you want one and it will be ready for you at the Retreat. A copy of Helen's book Ribbonwork the Complete Guide, and Elegant Ribbonwork is also required. We will have copies of these books available for sale in the Retreat Ribbon Shop, or you can order them at www.helengibb.com prior to the retreat.

Registration:
Registration is now open on a first come first served basis. The retreat is limited to 8 students. Don't delay because Helen's Retreats fill very quickly. Tell a loved one, that you'd like this retreat as a birthday, anniversary or holiday gift! Or better yet, treat yourself! Simply fill out the form and mail to the address listed.

The Retreat Cost:
The retreat cost of $495 per person, covers not only your tuition but your kit as well! We've been told that these retreat prices are a really, really good deal! We accept personal checks, bank checks and Visa / MasterCard credit card.

The Ribbon Retreat Cancellation Policy:
Please don't ask for exceptions to the Ribbon Retreat cancellation policy.
If you cancel prior to August 15th you will receive a refund of $250.00.
If you cancel on or after August 15th no refunds will be given.

Directions to the Hotel:
If flying to Colorado: You will fly into Denver International Airport (DEN). Book your airline ticket to arrive in Denver no later than 4pm on Thursday. For the trip back to the airport it might be wise to depart on Sunday rather than try to leave on Saturday night.

Boulder Super Shuttle (303-227-0000) offers transport to Louisville hotels from the airport. If you have any questions about travel arrangements please feel free to call us at 303-673-0949.

If driving to Colorado: Once you are in the Denver metro area find US36 and go northwest toward Boulder. Travel along US 36 until you come to the Louisville /McCaslin Blvd exit. Turn north onto McCaslin and go to the intersection lights, and then turn east onto Dillon Rd. Go about 200 yards and the hotels are on your right.

Schedule of Events:
Friday—classes from 9am to 5pm, with a break for lunch. After dinner you may wish to work on some assigned "homework" in the sewing room and also chat with Helen.
Saturday—classes from 9am to 5pm, with a break for lunch.

Shopping:
There will be a Retreat Ribbon Shop with lots of ribbons, assorted project kits, fabrics and laces, new embellishing trims, sterling silver charms and sewing tools, half dolls, fabric prints, box kits, beads, new books and other odds and ends. There will also be available the notions recommended for ribbonwork - needles, thread, pins, crinoline etc. We accept cash, checks, Visa or MasterCard credit cards for purchases made at the Retreat shop. The shop will be open for the entire retreat.

Clothes—What to Pack:
Bring layers of comfortable clothing. Jeans or slacks work well—include a sweater, cardigan or sweatshirt in case we have a cool evening. Sensible shoes for walking to the restaurants are advised.

Show and Tell:
Feel free to bring an item to show us! Maybe you have made some ribbonwork pieces over the last 12 months or perhaps you are learning something new in needlework and want to share it with us. Or maybe you have collected some vintage ribbonwork and are just dying to have us all admire it! Whatever—bring it!
